SCTP General

1. What is the SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP)?

SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP) supports mid-career individuals in acquiring industry-relevant skills to improve employability and pivot to new sectors or job roles. It is a train-and-place programme that is available on a part-time or full-time format, ranging from three to 12 months.

2. Can I use the SkillsFuture Credit and additional SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career Support) to offset the nett course fees?

Yes, you can use your SkillsFuture Credit and Additional SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career Support) to offset the nett course fees for SCTP.

3. What is the funding available?

Singaporeans and Singapore Citizens are eligible for a baseline subsidy of up to 70% of course fees and enhanced funding subsidy of up to 90% of course fees for Singapore Citizens aged 40 years old and above under SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy.

4. What is the duration of SCTP?

The duration of SCTP ranges from 3 to 6 months. However, the programme can be on full-time or part-time format to cater to trainees with work commitments.

5. Will the SCTP lead to job placements?

As SCTP operates on a Train-and-Place modality, training providers will provide career advisory and employment assistance to help trainees in their job search in relevant sectors or job roles. However, there is no guarantee of a job placement and trainees would need to be open to the job opportunities available.

6. Who is eligible for SCTP? Are both unemployed jobseekers and individuals who are in-employment but seeking career transitions eligible for SCTP?

The SCTP is open to all Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents who are looking for training opportunities to transit to a new sector or job role. Both unemployed and employed individuals can participate in SCTP courses, as long as they can fulfil training commitments, including minimum attendance requirements and passing of assessments.

7. Will trainees need to have certain minimum academic qualifications to sign up for the SCTP?

Please refer to the respective programme pages on pre-requisites for the courses.

8. Do I need to pay the full amount of nett fees upfront or at the end of the programme?

The nett fees are to be paid up front.

9. Will trainees, who do not meet the minimum attendance requirement, fail the programme or drop out of the programme midway, be penalised or required to refund the course fee subsidy?

You are encouraged to complete all modules under a SCTP to fully benefit from the intent of the programme. Similar to existing requirements for other training grants administered by SSG, trainees must fulfil minimum attendance requirements and pass the assessments to qualify for course fee subsidies. Trainees who are unable to meet these requirements, or exit the programme without a valid reason, may be asked to return the course fee subsidy that they have received, including any additional course fee funding support.

10. Do I get a monthly training allowance during the course of this programme?

Learners may be eligible for a flat $300 monthly SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance (Part-Time Training Allowance). Programme Focus

1. What’s the difference between SCTP Job of Manager (JOMAN) for Sustainability in Built Environment and SCTP Job of Manager (JOMAN) for Sustainability Manager in Built Environment?

The SCTP Job of Manager (JOMAN) for Sustainability in Built Environment is a general programme which prepares you for roles which require sustainability knowledge and skills such as HR, IT and Project Managers while the SCTP Job of Manager (JOMAN) for Sustainability Manager in Built Environment programme prepares you for roles such as Sustainability Manager, Sustainability Project Manager and Sustainability Analyst.

2. Will I receive a certificate after the completion of SIM SCTP Programme?

A certificate of participation will be issued upon completion of the SIM SCTP programme.

3. I’m not sure which programme is suitable for me. Can I contact SIM for assistance?

4. I do not have any prior industry experience in Advanced Manufacturing? Can I still enrol in the SCTP Job of the Manager (JOMAN) for Project Management and Corporate Services in Advanced Manufacturing programmes?

Funding for Individuals

Funding Requirements

To remain eligible for funding, participants must meet the following requirements:

Attendance

Achieve a minimum 75% attendance to remain eligible for Training Allowance disbursement. Complete mandatory digital attendance using Singpass.

Assessment

Sit for the required assessment and achieve a Competent (C) rating to remain eligible for funding.

Important

Depending on the programme, failure to meet any of the above requirements may result in the funding being voided. In such cases, the individual or employer will be required to bear the full, unsubsidised course fee.

Mid-Career Training Allowance

1. Who is eligible for Training Allowance, and how much can they receive in total?

Singaporeans aged 40 and above are eligible for up to 24 months of TA over their lifetime. The amount of TA received will vary based on income and preferred training commitment (full-time or part-time).

Eligible individuals can view their TA balances by logging into the MySkillsFuture Portal (https://courses.myskillsfuture.gov.sg) and click on E-Services -> “View/Apply For Training Allowance”.

2. How is the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance (TA) calculated?

Full-Time TA was designed to support individuals who take time off from their current employment to pursue full-time training by partially offsetting their loss of income. The TA is calculated at 50% of an individual’s average monthly income over the 12 months preceding the course start date, based on government records, with a minimum allowance of $300 and a maximum allowance of $3,000 per month.

Part-Time TA provides an additional option for individuals who opt to train part-time while they continue working. A fixed allowance of $300 per month is offered to help learners offset training expenses incurred such as learning materials and transportation.

The Training Allowance is fixed for the duration of the course.

3. I am a self-employed individual without CPF contributions. Am I eligible for SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance (TA)?

Yes. Income records for self-employed individuals will be based on their IRAS Notice of Assessment (NOA) for the relevant assessed period. Self-employed individuals are required to ensure their IRAS declarations are current and accurate.

4. How will the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance be computed?

It will be computed as 50% of the individual’s average monthly income, based on the latest available 12-month period of income data in the Government’s records. The training allowance payout will be capped at $3,000 per month.

5. Will the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance (TA) be subject to tax?

The TA will not be subject to tax.
